FAQ

  • Where do I store my Matcha?
    • Store your Matcha in the fridge. Think of it as a fresh vegetable.

  • How long will Matcha tea last?
    • When not yet opened and well-sealed in a pouch, Matcha lasts for over 2 years.
    • When opened and well stored in the fridge, it keeps its best flavor, color and taste for 6 months. Tip: consume it as soon as possible for the BEST flavor and taste.

  • How much Matcha should I use per serving?
    • A single serving is 1 teaspoon (1-1,5Gr)

  • How much Matcha can I have per day?
    • We recommend maximum 3Gr per day, but more wouldn’t harm you.

  • Does Matcha contain Caffeine?
    • Yes. Matcha contains approximately 30 mg of caffeine per serving. Coffee has 150 mg of caffeine per cup. So quiet a big difference. No caffeine rush and energy drop with Matcha.

  • What does Ceremonial Matcha taste like?
    • Matcha has a creamy, full bodied vegetal taste with a slight nutty undertone and a subtile smooth spinach aftertaste. No bitterness involved.

  • Is Matcha Bitter?
    • Only low quality Matcha Grade will taste bitter.

  • Does milk interfere with Matcha nutrients?
    • No, but we recommend plant based milk for your Matcha Latte.

  • How is Matcha prepared?
    • One serving (1-1,5Gr) Matcha is whisked into a frothy beverage into a ceramic tea bowl, using a bamboo whisk and hot (70 degrees) water. After whisking you can add extra water.

  • How much EGCG is in one serving?
    • One gram of Matcha contains approximately 70 mg of EGCG. 10 times more than regular brewed green tea.

  • I don’t have a whisk. Can I still prepare Matcha?
    • You can, but we recommend highly the whisk because the result won’t be the same. After whisking you get a perfect creamy Matcha. This is not possible without a whisk.

  • What is the ORAC rating?
    • ORAC is a measure of antioxidant efficacy of a particular food. The ORAC rating of Matcha is 1300/gr. This is enormous in comparison with fruits like pomegranates and Blueberries who contain 105 and 93 per gram.

  • Are there other ways to consume Matcha beside the tea version?
    • Of course! You can use it in a Latte version, Smoothie, yoghurt but also in your meals such as cake, donuts, pancakes, etc…

  • Why is Matcha relatively expensive compared to other green teas?
    • Matcha production is limited. Most farmers pick the Matcha leaves entirely by hand. At the factory, production requires several processes such as steaming, drying, sorting, grinding and packaging. Production of 40 grams of Matcha takes easily one hour of work… Matcha is made in limited quantities, and because it is so popular in Japan, relatively little remains for export.

  • How do I see the difference in Matcha Grade?
    • The grade/pricing of Matcha is directly related to which leaves are used, where they were grown and which farmers cultivated it. The highest-grade ones are the greenest color and the softest in texture.

  • Will Matcha interfere with my medication?
    • This would be very uncommon so probably not, but please ask your doctor.

  • Can I drink Matcha every moment of the day?
    • Yes, you can, but we recommend not after 4PM because you could have problems falling asleep at night.
